Life….

Three days in the jungles and cities of Mexico, the chaos of city streets or small jungle roads thru the mountains, is really starting to take it’s toll on us all. This journey seem like a infinite one, it gets harder everyday to get excited about getting back in CC rider and drive. I fantasies about waking up to the sound of the ocean and being able to spend my day doing nothing but playing on the beach or going for a surf or going to the market for some much needed vegetables. Doesn’t matter what I do as long as it doesn’t involve reading a map and trying to make sense of the map with the unmarked roads, or trying to pee in a bucket while going over speed bumps the size of Bachelors bunny hill. Oh how I can’t wait to taste the salt air again.
I am so glad we don’t have our dogs with us, as much as I miss them they would be an added stress we don’t need, plus the hunt for dog friendly hotels are such a frustrating thing especially for the fact that we are limited to those hotels and they aren’t even our dogs. Not to mention the heat, Crosby would be so uncomfortable, Roxy on the other hand would be stoked, going back to her roots and never cold.
The girls are so awesome, sure they have there melting moments but for the most part they are loving it and handling the days of driving so so well. Lila’s Spanish is thriving she speaks it all the time and wants to learn as much as she can. She was so excited yesterday because a little girl at some park we were at said “salta” to her which means jump and Lila knew that, her eyes lite up, gave a huge toothless smile and jumped, they all were very excited. It was so great to see the kids playing and figuring it all out, no language barrier between playing kids. It brought back all the joy and all the reason of why we are doing this, submerging the kids in a culture less privileged in so many ways, but so privileged in all the ways that matter. They may not have the newest toy or a television, nice clothes or shoes or even a warm shower, some families don’t even have a floor, but what they do have is so much love, love for life and for what they do have, because they know no different, none of that matters to them, and to me that is were they are so much more privilaged then we are. Majority of the American society is the need for more to fulfill us, the need for the most, the best, that is what makes us feel happy and complete. The Latin Americans just need family.
As we drive thru all these small villages you can’t help but feel the love that penetrates off the faces of the people, everyone has a smile and a wave to throw at you. Feeling of love and comfort takes over, never once have I felt threatened or scared. Central America thrives on the American tourism we are welcomed and wanted and that is the feeling we have gotten so far.

WTF!!

Another day on the road and another day closer to getting there. Today was a tough day on our spirits, we spent around 3 hours driving thru the frickin heart of Mexico City, I don’t EVER have to go there again. That city is so ridiculously gigantic there are people and cars coming at you from all angels and like 50 main streets downtown that all lead somewhere different. I was trying to coordinate the map with the street names but the map had different names then the ones on the streets, so that was nearly impossible, plus most of the streets aren’t marked with names so it was a complete guess of where the *%#^¥ we were. I finally got a break and found a street sign that matched with one on the map. Had a park on the left and now we were found, pulled it all together and got us the frig out of there. We pulled over at the first penmex out of the city and sat there to decompress. WTF just happened there! I truly dislike that city a lot.
We drove for about another two hours just trying to get As far away from that retched place as possible before dark fell upon our gringo selves. We landed in the city of Puebla which is a lot like Morelia small cobblestone streets that are horrible for the Charlie to maneuver thru. The hunt for a hotel sent the stress levels flying again, We meet back up with the fellow Oregonians traveling to Costa Rica so now we needed to not only find a hotel that can accommodate CC but now we have their 3 dogs as well. So after denial from about 3 hotels we where giving up on this cool yet horrible city, we where moving on when Cameron spots a hotel on our left, pulled in fast and talked to the guy. Sweet got two rooms, and as we were standing there Maneuvering CC into place I noticed the sign says they rent rooms by the hour! Well my day just got even better, spent three horrible hours in Mexico City and now we are spending the night at a “hostel”, Can it get any better?!! Can’t wait to pretend to sleep and get the hell out of here. at least the girls think the room is beautiful! Till a much better next time fellow followers, adios for now mi amigos.
