Opportunity knocked and we answered

We are an average Family seeking an above average adventure. We spend our summers taking in the sun and all that comes with it and spend our winters on the Mountain snowboarding with our two girls. We don’t have much nor do we need or want much to survive and live a life full of riches and experiences. We enjoy getting out and seeing what the World has to offer and giving our children the best education you can by exploring and traveling.

Our journey begins with the decision to travel thru Central America. A big decision on our part but a very exciting and scary one of course, All the hype about the “Crime” thru those parts is really ringing in our ears and the ears of our beloved Family members, and anyone really who has never been, including myself. I would be lying if I said I didn’t have mixed emotions about it. of course The fear of the un known and “What if’s” is strong, But the Adventure of the un known is stronger and if we never went because of the what if’s then we would never know, and either would you. We have to experience it not only for us but for our children. Opportunity is knocking and we are answering.

So I dedicate this blog to our beloved Family members and all who want to know and all who have fear. You will be able to follow our journey all the way to destination Nicaragua, We will try our best to keep all informed and knowledged of all experiences we have good and bad cause let’s face it there will be both, but I am confident enough to know we WILL reach our destination were we hope to lay our exhausted heads for a couple of months, then return Home safely with the greatest story of our lives. So I encourage and hope that you will visit here often and find some peace, laughs and slight anxiety at times, but manly comfort and a sense of being right there with us, and inspiration perhaps!

Thanks for traveling with us,

Peace to all,

Ashlie,Cameron,Lila and ChynaMae Yee

  1. I leave you in God’s hands. He has set before us a preordained plan we are to fullfill. Moreover, God promises that if we act in faith, trusting him, he will bring that plan to fulfillment. For me it is trusting in God, having faith in God and letting go my fears to him. Know you are in my daily prayers. Like I said to you Ashlie, you are bringing me closer to God. I have to believe, trust, and have faith, that he will watch over you guy’s. Have some of his angels pack thier bags and take a journey through Central America……..I LOVE you.

  2. Wow! Take care of yourself and of course your family. I have a zillion questions of course…How are you traveling? Where are you staying? When are you hoping to get to Nicaragua? Why Nicaragua? I’m sure all the answers will come over time on the blog, just being the worry wart that I am for my friend. Be careful and demand nothing but full cooperation from those embarking on this endeavor with you..Love You!

  3. We Love you all and will be nothing but safe, I have done hours and hours of research and talked to many people who have taken this drive and they all have nothing but great things to say. my friend just drove it with his girlfriend and their 4 year old daughter and he said he would do it again in a heart beat. We promise to keep our guards up and always be on feet. Just stay connected, and we will to!!!! peace.

  4. YAY! Can’t wait to hear all about your adventures! I admire you all so much and hope this trip brings you everything you are looking for! Stay open!
    All our love!

  5. im crying reading this. i know you guys will have the most amazing time and i wish you the best. your daughters are so lucky to be doing something so awesome. forget the tradition of going to school and being vastly educated on things that wont matter in your future.. except math and reading i guess. i was boating across the northwest with my family at these ages and it was the best experience to date. I am well versed humble and have no fears that any mountain is to large to climb. i believe it was the people i came in contact with at a young age and the things i was exposed to that have made me the succcessful person i am today. LIFE EXPERIENCES. the day to day schooling and the day to day hustle and bustle of a family trying to fit in to today’s society can be toxic to those who seek “untraditional” methods to raise their families. GO SEE YOUR CHILDREN IN THE WORLD’S EYES. SHOW THEM CULTURE AND HOW SELFISH OUR NATION IS. i wish you the best cam and ash and i am so proud to know you guys. i love you with all my heart. you have been such great friends to me always there when i needed something. you are an inspiring couple.

  6. Make sure when u get fuel down there ask for specific dollar or peso amounts of fuel because according to my father the Mexican native the gas pumps are rigged to be able to charge money without giving fuel. Also guess what Cam the diesel in Mexico is centrifuged woo hoo. Drive safe and let me know when u can facetime

  7. Oh My, I pray everyday that you are safe in the arms of the only God I know. You and your family walk with God. I kinow this because I have called on him this very moment to walk with you, keep you safe and shielded by those who would possible harm you. In Gods name I pray for you and your family.
